The Psyke Project - ‘Dead Storm’

Christ, what an awful name. Note to bands: this kind of ‘edgy’ misspelling wasn’t cool when Korn and Limp Bizkit did it and it sure as hell isn’t now. On a more positive note, however, this Danish crew fucking shred. ‘Dead Storm’ is an absolute beast of a record, all earth-shuddering low-end, gleaming muscular riffage and appendix-bursting screams. Its ten tracks, while rarely straightforward, are far from impenetrable, and whether they’re evoking the dirge-laden fury of Will Haven or the monolithic power of early Isis, the band succeed in forcing their message home with steely focus and lethal precision.
