It’s strange how Leeds quintet The Plight haven’t attracted the attention and plaudits they deserve. They’re one of the best punk bands in the UK right now, and this second full-length is fantastic. These 12 songs have a solid punk backbone, but there’s so much more going on. A classic rock ‘n’ roll spirit resides throughout songs such as ‘Sick Of The Dreaming’, with its invigorating, extravagant guitar interplay. The perfectly-placed instrumental ‘Lifted To The Sun’ gives way to the awesomely caustic narrative ‘Counting The Teeth’. Fronted by singer Aliskull’s impressively gravelly vocals, ‘Winds Of Osiris’ is raw, rockin’, and executed with true class.
