The Pigeon Detectives - Wait For Me

Rating: 7

In theory The Pigeon Detectives are a terrible thing. Their brand of brisk and breezy, whippersnapper guitar pop has been repeated innumerable times since The Strokes revitalised the genre, and their razor-sharp brand of love song was already old hat when the Buzzcocks first did up their skinny ties. It's pointless getting too theoretical, though, when confronted with so many great singles stuffed on to one album. Tunes like 'Romantic Type', 'I Found Out', 'Don't Know How To Say Goodbye' and 'Can't Control Myself' are guaranteed to make festival crowds bounce this summer, and their loose harmonies will induce more sing-alongs than anyone since prime Oasis. If that sounds horrible then you might want to stay in and avoid putting the radio on for a while.
