The Ocean - Heliocentric

Rating: 9

Post-metal’s most ambitious band return with yet another double release. This time, at least they’ve staggered release dates so the impact is more hitting every branch on the way down instead of colliding full force into the hard earth below as ‘Heliocentric’ is reported to be the more atmospheric and dynamic of the two. There’s a certain amount of futility in trying to summarise ‘Heliocentric’ in 100 words, but adjectives that have come to mind include luxurious, tectonic, ingenious, calculated, charismatic, enterprising, dextrous, inventive, unrestrained, fascinating and poignant and if all this doesn’t convince you to at least check them out, then seriously, fuck off.
