The New Regime - Speak Through The White Noise

Rating: 9

The second full-length from Ilan Rubin (aka the brains behind The New Regime, former Lostprophets and NIN drummer) is an attack on the media and the perceptions of fear mongering. While there’s an obvious level of self-regard here, the sophomore album is an audacious leap forward for the 22-year-old, who plays every single instrument on the album. ‘Pray For The Weak’ heaps on classic Manic Street Preachers guitar wielding and Muse-style histrionics. There is enough pop to appeal to a wide demographic here, but most impressive is the underlying tension throughout and the expertly thought-out dramatic energy. Ilan’s hit on a winning formula.
