The New Loud - Can’t Stop Not Knowing

Rating: 7

This EP is the debut official release from Milwaukee trio The New Loud, and it skewers together jagged, aggressive electro beats with boy/girl vocals, guitars and synths. You can dance to it if you like, but you may need to be a schizophrenic. The New Loud are, essentially, a mish-mash of styles and moods. Sometimes it works - ‘Don’t Dance’ and ‘Heaven’ both house anthemic choruses - and sometimes it doesn’t (we advise you to stand well back from the ‘jaunty’ cover of Radiohead’s ‘2+2=5’). But on the whole it’s an enjoyable mess that displays plenty of promise for the forthcoming full-length.
