The Ghost Of A Thousand - ‘New Hopes, New Demonstrations’

Rating: 9

This is a definite shout for album of the year. Recorded in Sweden and produced by Pelle Gunnerfeldt (Refused, The Hives), ‘New Hopes, New Demonstrations’ affirms TGOAT as one of Britain’s best bands, regardless of genre. In songs like ‘Knees, Toes, Teeth’ they embrace a punked-up rock ‘n’ roll spirit not dissimilar to The Bronx; in the scream-free ‘Split The Atom’ they deliver a song rich in groove and sombre melody; in closer ‘Good Old Fashioned Loss’ they offer up an accomplished, devastating, and epic conclusion to an album drenched in infectious rock spirit, integrity, intelligence and channelled aggression. It’s fantastic.
