It’s quite easy to hate on the
The All-American Rejects but when a band displays such an innate and effortless ability to craft songs of the standard found here, on their third full-length record, sometimes you have to just stand back and quietly applaud. From the peppy opener ‘I Wanna’ to the darker-edged ‘Real World’ and the more-hooks-than-a-tackle shop ‘Gives You Hell’, this is A-class power-pop of the standard so many other bands reach for but can never attain. It might be like listening to music while wrapped in candy floss and drowning in a Wonker-esque lake of chocolate, but in all honesty, death by ear candy isn’t the worst possible way to go, is it?
