Six.By Seven - If Symptoms Persist, Kill Your Doctor

Ten years on from their debut single, Six.By Seven are still getting about as much attention as a day-old dog turd, but it doesn't seem to have hampered their musical progress too much. Boosted by the return of original guitarist Sam Hempton to the line-up, the Nottingham quintet's drone-rocking prowess has found another gear, especially on the evidence of the smouldering epic 'Diplomatique', which builds into a mind-melting wash of psychedelic noise and otherworldly ambience with a finesse that would make Syd Barrett sit up in his grave. Whether this will convert any new fans to the band's cause is another question entirely, but you have to imagine that Six.By Seven are used to being ignored by now.
