Shrinebuilder - Shrinebuilder

Rating: 10

When the main components of some of alt-metal’s most influential acts come together there can only be one outcome: a record so earth-moving that tectonic plates are clinging on for dear life. With Scott ‘Wino’ Weinrich, Scott Kelly, Al Cisneros and Dale Crover manning the ranks, this first effort (of many – this isn’t a one-off project) has hues of its members’ other concerns embedded in riffs monolith-heavy and packed with more groove than a glacier crevasse. ‘Pyramid Of The Moon’ is as spaced-out as its title, showcasing Cisneros’ hypno-vibes, while epic opener ‘Solar Benediction’ provides the light and shade. Fucking religious.
