Shinedown - The Sound Of Madness

Rating: 4

Shinedown write the kind of songs that make us wish we were deaf. Harsh, but true. The band sound like a cross between insipid bores Nickelback and active-rock turds Disturbed, they make music that is perfect for Ultimate Fighting Championship or Ford Truck commercials and appeal to the kind of rock fan who thinks Seether are not a ‘good’ band but a ‘great’ band. Shinedown are on the rise and ‘The Sound Of Madness’ will probably do fantastically well for the band in this country, but this writer cannot and will not be stoked about an album so full of artifice and devoid of ingenuity and creative integrity. Cue the letters…
