Lovers of early Isis should recognise the oceanic intent. Yet for all that has come since, Rye Wolves’ crashing waves of riffs remain as fresh as a tsunami-powered blast of sea air. Complex as they are crushingly heavy, the momentum has the urgency that many contemporaries lack; the lulls outdo most in textured dexterity. ‘Millions Of Gallons Of Water’ is a less nautically-themed song title as spot-on summation, and that a mere trio constructed a record this mighty confirms Rye Wolves a force to be reckoned with.
