It’s a mighty ‘oof’ in the face as eighth effort from earthy Swedish sorts
Soilwork hails the return of long-serving guitarist and founding member
Peter Wichers, marking a return to a more technical sound. Yes, you’ll still find the catchy-as-fuck choruses and racing time signatures that the band have become renown for, but now the axework is even more astounding – just check out
Wichers’ fretboard gymnastics on ‘Deliverance Is Mine’ and ‘Two Lives Worth Of Reckoning’ for evidence. The synth-led ‘Night Comes Clean’ provides a brief let-up from the galloping tempos and ‘Let This River Flow’ is a real head-nodding groover. Nice.
