Melvins - The Bride Screamed Murder

Rating: 9

Pushing the boundaries of rock for a quarter of a century now, the Melvins demonstrate they’re still knee-deep in miry grooves and the creative flow is certainly not stemming just yet. Continuing where the dark grooves of 8’s ‘Nude With Boots’ left off, ‘The Bride…’ exhibits the perfect marriage between the Big Business boys and Melvins main-men King Buzzo and Dale Crover. Opener ‘The Water Glass’ is a teeth-rattling droner with a heftier take-off than a fleet of Harrier Jump Jets and military cadence-style vocals, while live favourites ‘I’ll Finish You Off’ and their meaty, dirge-infused version of ‘My Generation’ also feature. Storming!
