Outcry Collective - ‘Articles’

Rating: 7

Surrey quartet Outcry Collective apparently gutted out and soundproofed a pig sty to create the studio in which they recorded this self-produced debut album, all of which sounds like very mucky work indeed. That’s quite fitting, as these 10 tracks bathe in a fabulously filthy spirit; vocalist Steve Sitkowski sounds like he’s been downing pints of petrol as he rasps through songs such as opener ‘Out Of My System’ and the rampant Southern riff fest ‘A Great Day For The Cows’. Rock ‘n’ roll was destined to sound dirty, and ‘Articles’ is a very welcome antithesis to pedestrian, sanitised bands that think otherwise.
