Never Means Maybe - Celebrate With Cyanide Laced Champagne

Rating: 7

Nonsensical pseudo-philosophical name? Check. Garish comic book-inspired Myspace? Check. Massive chugging riffs, double bass drum rolls and scream / shout vocals? Check. It’s not a new formula, but it’s one Chelmsford’s Never Means Maybe brew up rather convincingly with their debut EP. ‘Skylines’ displays the band’s gentler side, while ‘Dressed To The Nines’ and ‘Soundwave’ prove that when they get down to it, Never Means Maybe can give your eardrums a hearty pounding. At times there’s a bit too much of a likeness to fellow Essex boys Fei Comodo (who can blame them, eh?) but otherwise this is solid stuff.
