Nazca Lines - Hyperventilation

Rating: 7

Despite having their roots laid firmly in Seattle, Nazca Lines have a distinctly British sound to them and on ‘Hyperventilation’ there is – thankfully – very little sign of a Seattle grunge influence. Instead, this is a 10 tracks of jaggedy indie-rock, complete with shouty vocals and a lo-fi vibe threaded throughout. Granted, this may be a bit awkward to make it everyone’s cup of tea, but in ‘This Little Island’ and ‘From The Bottom of A Crevasse’, Nazca Lines allow their punk rock edge to shine, and with guest spots from Cody Votolato of Blood Brothers fame, they’ve certainly got a scene point or two to up the numbers, too.
