Rating: 8It’s a very rare feat that the much anticipated debut from a band so hotly tipped actually lives up to the hype. With members from both sides of the pond, this Anglo-American fivesome share musical prowess beyond their tender years and have packed this self-titled affair with swathes of sweeping keyboards, angular guitars and a soaring, powerful vocal. There’s a hint of Scandinavian metal about their blend of synths and impossible axe solos, evident in ‘Year Of Affliction’ which sidles up like an alloy of In Flames and DragonForce, while ‘Oblivion’ is an epic-sounding sonic tour de force.
