Monument - Goes Canoeing

Rating: 8

Blending the spirit of 90s American indie-rock with the more accessible side of the Dischord Records stable of DC hardcore bands – and managing to sound (presumably unintentionally) a hell of a lot like dearly departed Brummie noiseniks Distophia in the process, Monument here present their debut full-length album and its unique and thrilling blend of cascading sonic discordance, break-neck tempos and epileptic shrieking. Their spazzy but deeply infectious indie-rock ethos is music to our aching ears and whilst the 10 tracks here are but a brief introduction, by rights, the chapters are going to be coming thick and fast for this lot very soon.
