Midgar - Lead Your Children To The Sky

The latest in line for Brits-flying the troubled-yet-maudlin-flag, Midgar are only too aware of the convoluted genre in which they’re trying to progress. While vocally cynics may suggest Fightstar comparisons, there are moments of real beauty here, where softly sung melodies collide head-on with hardcore screams and heavy hitting guitars to reveal plenty beneath the surface. Dreamy pianos herald in ‘Karmic Retribution’ before guitars crash into title track ‘Lead Your Children To The Sky’ (which features Steve Sitkowski from Outcry Collective). Purveying darkly sonorous sounds that are subtle but original, this is a proud primer for next year’s full-length.
