With churning riffs, breakdowns aplenty and more grind than a nine-to-five office job, Memphis May Fire could easily be just another band creating the kind of melodic metalcore done so many times before. However, invest some time with this and there’s a lot more invention and progression here than you might first imagine. From the ambient electronics underpinning ‘Be Careful What You Wish For’ to the slow-burning hazy atmospherics and stabbed synths of ‘Vaulted Ceilings’, Memphis May Fire are a band not bound by the ties that could easily have bound them. In an overly-populated scene Memphis May Fire stand out a mile.
