On an Odyssey of Homeric proportions to explore every corner of our sub-conscious, ‘Out Of Our Minds’ is a seamless fusion of conceptual and progressive musical references. Unlike 04s ‘Auf der Maur’ Melissa works her new terrain with bolder ideas, burying ‘the bassist’ Achilles heel from her Hole/Smashing Pumpkins days. ‘Father’s Grave’ featuring Glenn Danzig is a milestone in macabre, voicing the mystic reverie and musical macramé of her voice; while ‘Meet Me On The Darkside’ supplements the ethereal. Grunge may have been the beginning but 17 years later Melissa’s injected a scorched conceptual shriek to her rock demagogy altering her musical scope to brilliant effect.
