Marionette - ‘Enemies’

Rating: 6

Those who managed to see beyond Marionette’s questionable fashion sense generally found their debut ‘Spite’ to be an enjoyable romp. It’s the same deal with ‘Enemies’. You’ll never convince anyone how good these guys are by showing them photos. Instead delve right into the melodic, futuristic twinges of ‘Unman’, the rawer ‘The Swine’ or potentially massive if released as a video ‘Your Hands’. Loaded with punched typewriter Fear Factory beats and riffs, draped in an electronic haze and occasional Gothenburg sheen it’s much better then you expect, the keyboards providing a welcome warmth and positive uplift to the songs.
