Velociraptors are rad beyond belief, so it’s a good thing MOTR are equally ace else we’d have to get angry. Occupying a verdant hinterland between metal and hardcore – but it ain’t metalcore, because that shit’s lame – the likes of ‘Grace Of God’ and the frayed, frantic ‘Days Of Last’ are fluent and imaginative, and ‘Unto Themselves’ is a Hollywood blockbuster of a tune, all widescreen guitars and volcanic slabs of riffage. Good, honest, brutal fun, and the first broadside from a band evidently capable of becoming one of the leading lights of the UK heavy music scene. Riveting stuff.
