Despite their ill-advised moniker (see Natural Born Killers for a reference point), Mallory Knox do an impressive job on ‘Pilot’ of proving their worth. This is emotive, powerful, ballsy rock music that sits perfectly at home in the A Wolf At Your Door stables alongside the similarly spacious sounds of Deaf Havana and Lower Than Atlantis. ‘Oceans’ thuds along with wondrous aplomb, while ‘Resuscitate’ is a balanced blend of ferocity, melody and musicality. The odd song may drag on for 30 seconds too long at times, but overall, ‘Pilot’ is a commendable effort from a band that are quickly finding their feet.
