Lower Than Atlantis - Far Q

Rating: 8

The melodic hardcore of Lower Than Atlantis possesses maturity beyond expectations. Across debut full length ‘Far Q’, the Watford-four piece don’t settle for their multitude of persuasive hooks, they challenge their genre’s boundaries both in lyrical and textural terms and it is this that keeps ‘Far Q’ consistently appealing. The mood and emotion within frontman Mike Duce’s voice lends itself perfectly to his tales of misfortune and the varying temperaments between the blistering, ‘B.O.R.E.D’ and the soulful, ‘Face Full Of Scars’ provide pleasing incongruity in a genre so buttoned down with tedium. Lower Than Atlantis have created a very strong debut.
