It figures. After six years and three albums on the thrash / melodic death outskirts, these San Francisco kiddos hunker down and offer up 12 mighty songs that’ll bitch-slap metal’s kneecaps. Of course, they’ve since broken up; isn’t it always the way? Actually, it isn’t, but whether it was the knowledge that ‘Stormchaser’ was their exit wound or the new blood on bass and guitar (the quality of the soloing has jumped 138.4 per cent), this a near-flawless calling card of gnashing riffs, melodic smarts and Laura Nichol screeching and growling without abandon. ‘Stormchaser’’s brilliance is likely the product of
Light This City throwing down one last hurrah. That, or they’re pissed at the prospect of having to get real jobs.
