It’s time to celebrate, because Belfast quartet LaFaro are, finally, releasing a debut album, and it’s an absolute belter. The follow-up to their 07, Rock Sound-approved EP put out via Field Records, this self-titled full-length captures the band in all their haywire glory. The filthy bassline and frontman Jonny Black’s vocal delivery in ‘Great Conversations Remembered…’ and closer ‘Party Hardy Marty!’ is reminiscent of top-notch Mclusky. Opener and longstanding fan favourite ‘Tupenny Nudger’ still sounds mightily scuzzy and irresistibly urgent, ‘Chopper Is A Fucking Tout’ rocks with a ferocious, frenetic spirit few bands could rival, and the lyrics are ace throughout.
