Insidiously compelling

Conducting a bizarre touch of musical sleight of hand, the industrial / hardcore onslaught that both the title and the cogs and-pistons heavy graphic design would suggest will be smacking us about the cranium with the force of a nuclear warhead, never actually materialises. Instead we’re treated to an assortment of politico-revolutionary propaganda that sounds, at times, bizarrely like
Davey ‘Bonkers‘ Draiman fronting
RATM. Weirder still is a glossy, somewhat jaunty take on ‘Heart Shaped Box’ which finds itself a gulf away from the wrought, disabled beauty of the original, yet somehow remains insidiously compelling, much like the rest of the album.
