‘Buried Alone’ is the multiple-headed brainchild of ex
Monsoon Bassoon vocalist and occasional
Cardiacs guitarist
Kavus Torabi. As you’d expect, then, it’s an album that fires off an awe-inspiring barrage of musical styles. Even the relatively straightforward ‘Pissed Up On Brake Fluid’ sounds like
Kavus heard ‘Another Girl, Another Planet’ and decided to write a math-rock version. Occasionally the digressions from the deceptively melodic tunes can get wearing but when he screams, “there is no more dying, there are no more dying” like a psychotic foreign exchange student trying to get to grip with English verbs it’s clear that this is both head and heart music.
