Job For A Cowboy - ‘Ruination’

Rating: 5

As much as the self-appointed ‘truer-than-thou’ metal brigade would have you believe these Arizona wunderkinds are simply a “Myspace band” (really, who isn’t these days?) or metalcore wannabes, they’re not. What they can lay claim to is being some of the luckiest motherfuckers ever to walk the planet as there’s really no explanation as to why they, as opposed to similar sounding outfits, have achieved the popularity they’ve achieved. ‘Ruination’s competent and precise, but ultimately tepid and interchangeable, death metal won’t help unlock the mystery, not that this will matter to their rosy-cheeked legions of faithful followers. Can you say gateway band?
