Hildamay - We Loved, We Lost

Rating: 7

Now here’s a UK troupe that shows promise in spades. Hildamay’s gruff and powerful delivery is rather reminiscent of mighty Gainesville punk stalwarts Hot Water Music, while there are healthy nods towards Glassjaw and Thrice here too. With promising influences, ‘We Loved, We Lost’ improves as it progresses, with gravelly vocals sailing over power guitar lines and soaring melodies, providing would-be anthems for a potential wall of fists raised skyward. Despite getting off to a shaky start, it serves as an impressive debut in terms of this Sidcup quintet’s future.
