Hatebreed - ‘For The Lions’

Rating: 8

Metallica did a covers album (yonks ago) and now it’s the turn of Connecticut heavies Hatebreed as they pay homage to their influences in this hard-hitting, ass-whipping, whirlwind-headbang-tastic affair. From ‘Suicidal Maniac’, ‘Ghosts Of War’ and ‘Escape’ by Thrasher idols Suicidal Tendencies , Slayer and Metallica to ‘All I Had I Gave’ by hefty merchants of mire Crowbar and Obituary’s ‘I’m In Pain’, plus the various tracks of hardcore heroes Sick Of It All, Bad Brains, Black Flag, DRI and more, Jamey Jasta and co deliver their own brutal slant to the proceedings. Far from being thrash-a-oke, ‘For The Lions’ is one beast of a collection.
