GU Medicine - Lords Of Oblivion

Rating: 7

Maybe it’s the unrelenting groove of G.U. Medicine that pulls you into ‘Lords Of Oblivion’. Or possibly it’s the raw honesty in Lee Storrar’s howling voice causing their third rolling alco-rock offering to clamp you in its Sabbath-infected jaws. But, as ceaseless as those mechanisms may be, it takes the Yorkshire road warriors until the midway point to fully entrench them. Only when tracks like album namesake, ‘Lords of Oblivion’ and ‘Lighting Up The Skies’ begin to fire does the album really find its rhythm. ‘Lords Of Oblivion’ is unlikely to become a classic, but it’s a fine work nonetheless.
