God Forbid - Earthsblood

Rating: 7

Right from the symphonic opening of ‘The Discovery’, it’s clear that the fifth studio offering from the New Jersey heavy-weights is going to be an impressive affair. For a start, they’ve had expert guidance in the shape of ex-Fear Factory bassist / guitarist Christian Olde Wolbers who, in his co-production of ‘Earthsblood’, has leant the poise of his former outfit. ‘Empire Of The Gun’ is a cocked and loaded affair which makes use of dual vocals and guitars that chug like a panzer division tank taking off on harmonics with the ear-shattering scream of an incendiary device. Brutal to the last, with the opening to ‘The New Clear’ providing much-needed breathing space, ‘Earthsblood’ is not for the faint-hearted.
