Glamour Of The Kill - The Summoning

Rating: 7

On ‘The Summoning’, it’s as if axe-slinging revivalists par excellence Glamour Of The Kill have rolled up to the pick ‘n’ mix counter marked ‘riffs of ages’, and decided to really go the whole hog. In fact, the band’s only formula here seems to be that if it sounds good, it’s going on. So, we get the classic 80s stomp and strut of ‘If Only She Knew’, the metalcore-styled riff-bombs of ‘The Voices’ and, inevitably, a couple of (passable) ballads. Then again, GOTK can’t resist a slamming beatdown or even some Megadeth-tinged fretboard heroics when the mood takes them. Sound fun? It is.
