Futures - The Holiday

Rating: 9

Rising from the ashes of sorely missed quintet Tonight Is Goodbye comes Futures - and with them a belter of a debut. ‘The Holiday’ is seven tracks of laser-sculpted pop-rock from a band that look set to give Canterbury a run for their money in the ‘ones to watch’ stakes for 2010. ‘16’ and ‘The Boy Who Cried Wolf’ have all the hooks and lyrical one-liners of Fall Out Boy but with the warmth and sincerity of Clarity-era Jimmy Eat World - it’s gorgeous, it’s rocking and it paints Futures as very exciting prospect indeed.
