Fireworks - All I Have To Offer Is My Own Confusion

Rating: 7

Cut from the same cloth as Hit The Lights, Sing It Loud and countless other polished pop-punk acts from the US of A, Detroit’s Fireworks have made a decent stab at denting a saturated market with this, their debut full-length. TheNew Found Glory influence is overwhelming (understandable as Chad Gilbert handles production duties here), but there’s enough going on within tracks like ‘I Support Same-Sex Marriage’ and the rabble-rousing ode to their hometown, ‘Detroit’, to give them a leg up above their many, many peers. For those that see pop-punk as more than a fair-weathered friend, Fireworks are a safe bet this winter.
