Fearless Vampire Killers - In Grandomina

Rating: 5

Five dudes from London who wear white make-up and suits covered in talc, the natural inclination would be to assume that Fearless Vampire Killers are baseless buffoons. Whoever said that thing about books and covers had a point, though: ‘In Grandomina…’’s faults are plentiful and mostly relate to kooky quirks, dodgy lyrics and haphazard song structures that need reining in. But these four gothically inclined pop-rock songs boast some decent hooks, with a new romantic sensibility spliced into the mix in a weirdly effective fashion. To clarify: this isn’t great, but there’s a good chance that the kids are going to love it.
