A Japanese band that sounds like an American thrash metal/post-hardcore band? Woot. And they wear masks! Oh, the excitement. But beyond the cross-cultural chaos going on, there’s no denying that FACT are phenomenal musicians, and whilst the basis of their sound is ripped wholeheartedly from the heart of America, there’s a frenzied, electronic mania here that could only come from Japan, where attention spans are 20 times shorter than in the West. Er… FACT. The result is a genuine joy to listen to: a powerful record that pushes post-hardcore somewhere refreshing and new; where malfunctioning robots have stepped behind the instruments and taken control.
