Some EP’s are just too good to be true. This is one of them. Dinosaur Pile-Up may have plundered the past ghost of Weezer in order to push their melodic rock forward, but while history presents a weary blend of contemporaries struggling to match their masterful reference points, DPU are propelled forward, seeming hell bent on lifting their accessible rock on high to a new generation. ‘Summer Hit Single’ has already received praise, but its the toughness at the core of ‘Melanin’ that best lends itself to the voice of a band sure to be loved by all sects of the music listening world.
