From the kettle drum and orchestral announcement opening it’s clear that these Tennessee warriors are here to wage (and win) a blood-thirsty campaign! Like fellow Fighting Fantasy-metallers 3 Inches Of Blood, the tales of yore on Destroy Destroy Destroy’s sophomore effort deal with battles upon ancient plains, winged panthers and fighting their way through wretched forests – in fact, you could almost imagine the two outfits comparing stories over a flagon of ale in the Heroes Welcome Tavern! ‘Realm Of Ancient Shadows’ is timeless, epic metal, with swathes of synth and prerequisite “yaaaaarrrr” battle-cry, while ‘Battle Slut Drinking Song’ is the sound of a victorious army celebrating their triumph. Total destruction!
