Having to leave Within Temptation after discovering he was suffering from Pfeiffer’s disease must have been a crushing blow to Martijn Westerholt, but left unable to cope with the rigours of touring meant he had little choice but to step back from the band he helped form with brother Robert. The plan for Delain to remain a studio project has backfired though, because the strength of their material has created a massive demand for the band to play live. If the galloping melodies don’t impress then the ethereally beautiful vocals of Charlotte Wessels will surely pierce your armour and find their way to your heart.
