Dead Letter Circus - Dead Letter Circus

Rating: 7

Dead Letter Circus are part of a homogeneous genre. Fact. Maybe it’s Karnivool producer Forrester Savell (Cog, Sum 41, Mammal) pasting his epic production techniques over the six tracks here, or that Kim Benzie’s vocals share more than a passing similarity to Ian Kenny’s. It may just be the Aussie accent. Either way, Dead Letter Circus execute the catchy rock choruses that a lot of dramatic stadium-sounding bands from Down Under are experts at. Interestingly their refusal to ape the proggy The Butterfly Effect aesthetic means in the process they find their own quick-to-like style. One that gives them both credit and individuality in their own right.
