Dead And Divine - The Machines We Are

Rating: 7

As a scene that generally contributes more to landfill than your average City Council, metalcore very rarely throws up much of interest nowadays but, on their sophomore record, Ontario crew Dead And Divine prove to be a real diamond in the rough. Injecting strength, progression and intelligence into their approach to the genre; the band have found a winning formulae that melds the emotion and guile of Alexisonfire with the swagger of Every Time I Die. In frontman Matt Tobin they also possess a vocalist whose instantly recognisable croon, charisma and lyrical lucidity only elevates them further still from their scene chasing peers.
