Daniel Lioneye - Vol II

Rating: 8

Arriving almost a decade after HIM guitarist Linde Lindström’s solo debut, ‘The King Of Rock ’N’ Roll’, which featured his ‘day job’ band mates, this time around it’s a case of forget what you know. Gone are the laidback grooves and ‘joke band’ attitude, as ‘Vol II’ is a serious, full-on assault from the word go. With new sticksman Bolton providing some pumped-up machine gun drumming, Fantômas-style bleeps and off-kilter sampling courtesy of keyboardist Burton and a large helping of experimentation, ‘Vol II’ could almost be the bastard offspring of a Mike Patton and black metal union. This baby roars!
