Coliseum - House With A Curse

Rating: 7

They say a change is as good as a rest, and that is definitely the case with this Louisville levellers’ third offering. Recorded at The Funeral Home, released through a new label and with a new drummer in tow, ‘House With A Curse’ is loaded with surprises – the most significant being the change of sound. With a nod towards Fugazi in Ryan Patterson’s vocal, they’ve switched the extreme and visceral sonics of former release, ‘Salvation’ in favour of a more leftfield attack that hints at post punk, cemented by guests including Jawbox’s J Robbins and Squirrel Bait man Peter Searcy. Shocking, but storming none the less.
