Broadway Calls - Toxic Kids

Rating: 8

Functioning as a stop-gap between their second and third full-lengths (with the latter due next year), this EP marks Broadway Calls’ first release since controversially parting ways with bassist Matt Koenig – and honestly, they’re doing okay without him. Opening track ‘I’m So Ready To Be Done With My 20s’ is one of the most upbeat, affirming pop-punk songs they’ve ever written, with the similarly energetic ‘Denver’ and ‘Toxic Kids’ keeping the record on a high. That’s rad in itself, but coupled with acoustic track ‘Stealing Sailboats’, which is one of their most emotionally charged, mature songs yet? Even radder.
