Boy Jumps Ship - Engines

Rating: 8

Following on from their selftitled debut earlier in the year, Boy Jumps Ship have returned with a thoroughly more complete package on their second attempt. ‘Engines’ mixes the grandiose feel of Young Guns with the pop hooks of Futures, resulting in a thoroughly enjoyable end product. ‘We Won’t Burn Out’ is accessible enough for the odd bit of radio play but there’s still enough grit in ‘The Ocean’ and ‘Don’t Be A Stranger’ to win over the rawk sceptics. This is an EP stuffed with riffs galore and gang vocals aplenty and a fine effort from this Geordie quartet.
