Blaqk Audio - Bright Black Heaven
Ummm... yeah.

The ’80s are well and truly alive with
Davey Havok and
Jade Puget. If you didn’t gather this from their recent AFI efforts, then
Blaqk Audio’s ‘Bright Black Heaven’ will seal the deal. Unfortunately, it’s the bit of the ’80s with shit hair and songs comprising vapid lyrical themes and over-tangled synthesised nonsense they’re reviving here. The unapologetically self-indulgent approach is almost admirable initially, but Havok’s wail over the disorganised electro-pop chaos make it little more than farcical. At almost 50 minutes in length, it’s an eyebrow-raiser for all the wrong reasons. Best left well alone.
